a walk through DUMBO

After dropping off a Zipcar (I’m a recent convert) in DUMBO yesterday, I took a spontaneous walk around the neighborhood, which continues to evolve at an incredible rate. I happened upon a great book sale ($10 find for Luca pictured above), got my chocolate fix on and took in a great aerial view (on the walk home) of the floating pool I’ve heard so much about.
I used to wander aimlessly much more often – it’s one of my favorite things about living in NYC. The time constraints of parenthood don’t provide as much down time, but they do make the occasional walk – its views, remembrances and discoveries – all the sweeter.

aren't these stolen moments so meaningful now? i had the best scoop of ice cream i've ever had last night b/c i had time to savor each spoonful (the last three months i've eaten every meal at a record pace in case the babe might demand my attention) cause you were watching the baby at home. thanks.
the floating pool-totally awesome. i went on labor day, last day. it was so great, i am going to marry it. let's walk buddy.
Didn't Halcyon (formerly of Smith Street) move to Dumbo? I was so sad when they left.
secretary,
Funny you mention Halcyon - I'd been to their new Dumbo spot before, but couldn't find it (assuming they're still there) the other day. I was pretty bummed when they moved, too.
